Simon was recently appointed to the role of Chief Executive of Botanic Gardens of Sydney. leading the organisation into the future by advocating for the science, conservation, horticulture, education, recreation, and visitor programs that enrich the lives of our local communities and global audiences, as well as providing solutions to critical environmental challenges facing all of life on Earth. As a cultural and scientific institution, the Botanic Gardens of Sydney includes the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, The Domain, Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan, Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah, and the nation’s premier botanical research organisation – the Australian Institute of Botanical Science. Simon has nearing three decades experience working in the conservation industry through his various roles at Taronga Conservation Society Australia, having worked across multiple disciplines including wildlife care and welfare, education, regulation, curatorial, science and conservation. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2019 in recognition of his work in wildlife conservation, both in Australia and for primate species in Africa.
