The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan showcases the enormous diversity of Australian flora. Covering 416 hectares between Camden and Campbelltown in Sydney’s south-west, it is Australia’s largest botanic garden. The Trust’s plant conservation research facilities are based at the Garden, including the award-winning Australian PlantBank which houses the New South Wales Seedbank.
The Australian Botanic Garden will become the new home of the National Herbarium of NSW. The new Australian Institute of Botanical Science will also be anchored by the Australian Plantbank – positioning New South Wales as a global leader in botanic sciences. The Australian Institute of Botanical Science will focus on providing solutions to issues such as food security and climate change, as well as providing jobs and educational opportunities, within this major recreational space for the rapidly growing Macarthur region.
